A girl of 10th grade jumped off the 5th floor staircase today in Rajuk. She was accused of increasing her marks on her marksheet and was threatened of being taken to Vice Principal. She was afraid of her parents and so she leaped. She was admitted in CMH for 5 hours in critical condition before she passed away at 6:14 PM local time due to a severe trauma to the head, shattered cranium, broken ribs among many other physical injuries.
It wasn’t long till Rajuk decided to play innocent and lodge a GD against the girl before her parents could take any action against the institute. This was truly shocking & heartbreaking to see such an innocent soul take her life away just like that. Is this where our generations are being forcefully led to? Is this how the education system should work?
Is your make-believe social standing in society more important than your child’s life? Do you have to hammer your child so much to the point that she thinks of killing herself? This inhumane pressure never motivates people it only eats them up from the inside. Seizing mobile phones, cutting of contact, physically and mentally abusing kids for grades should be considered grossly immoral and tantamount to child abuse.
Who made you The Judge , Jury and Executioner? What gives you the right to threaten a child and scare them so much that it drives them to kill themselves?
The bloodstained corridors of Rajuk today should remind us that we need to be kinder to our students. Forcing them to enter in a mad race to the top will only damage them mentally and psychologically. I personally have received no shortage of ridicule from my parents and peers for missing A Plus in English by a 2 mark margin in HSC. I know how much this hurts and if you think that ridiculing, scolding and punishing these kids will motivate them to do better next time, you’re badly mistaken. You only embitter them against education and make them feel worthless.
