Fire mishaps in Dhaka city have left the city in shock. Citizens are paranoid; neither can they feel safe inside their house nor can they leave the house. What’s worse is even office buildings don’t have proper fire exits!
Out of all the miseries, the Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (WASA) of Chattogram city is taking the initiative of installing 200 fire hydrants under phase-2 of Karnaphuli. This is fully funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The hydrants will be placed in 10 different busy places in the city.
This is all to take immediate action whenever an incident of fire takes place. Chattogram is also becoming a very busy city day by day. After all, most of the income of the country comes from Chattogram port. Such initiatives by the authorities are truly praiseworthy.
We hope that there are no more fire mishaps in anywhere in the country. And in any case of fire in Chattogram, the hydrants will surely improve the operation of the fire services department during such crises.
